Veterinary Assistants are responsible for assisting the Veterinarian and Veterinary Technicians. This will include helping doctors with physical examinations, assisting in the exam room, dispensing medications, helping position patients for processing radiographs, preparing patients for surgery, providing nursing and comfort care, performing treatments and basic laboratory diagnostic tests.
Veterinary Assistants must build positive, professional relationships with clients and staff members. Veterinary assistants should have completed or be in the process of the completing their high school diploma and must pursue significant on the job training.
