Veterinary Technicians are responsible for assisting the Veterinarian. Veterinary Technicians must have broad knowledge of animal science, medicine, and industry including a basic knowledge of pharmacology and sufficient mathematical skills to ensure the administration of accurate drug and fluid doses. They must successfully restrain animals complete clinical laboratory tests, use multiple radiology techniques, administer and monitor animals under anesthesia, assist in surgery, perform dental procedures and deliver compassionate nursing care.
Veterinary Technicians must build positive, professional relationships with clients and staff members. Veterinary Technicians must have completed a certified program in veterinary technology and have received at a minimum an Associates Degree in Veterinary technology.
